For example, you want to avoid using “The White Company” references on your homepage but “The White Co.” on Google My Business. You also shouldn’t use different NAP listings completely. One of the most important things to remember here is that Google will treat this kind of inconsistency as deception, which can result in a penalty if you’re not careful.

Different Types Of Meta Tags

The two most commonly used meta tags are the meta description tag and the meta title tag. These two tags work together to provide search engines with the information they need about a website page. There are four different types of meta tags, and they’re all very useful in their own way.

The first type of meta tag is the description tag. The description meta tag is often characterized as the short description of a web page, and it should help provide an overview of the page.

The second type of meta tag is the title tag. The title tag is often seen as the headline of a web page. And like the description tag, it should be written to summarize the content of the web page.

The third type of meta tag is the author tag. The author tag is slightly different than the description or title tags. It’s used to identify the author of the web page.

If you’re creating a web page, then the most common place to place your meta tags is in the header area of your web page. The header area is located in between the <head> and </head> HTML tags. But they aren’t placed in between those two tags. Instead, they should be placed before the <head> tag and after the title of the page.

Here’s a look at what a meta tag looks like in the header area of the page.

The first thing that you want to do is find some keywords to include in your meta tags. You can use any of the online search tools out there, but one we like is Google’s Keyword Planner Tool. It’s a free tool that gives you keyword ideas and suggestions.

So how do you use this tool?

First, go to AdWords’ Keyword Planner Tool. Choose a location that you wish to target. If you want to target multiple locations, then you can add up to 10 locations at once. Next, select a language for which you want to see keyword data. At the top of the page, you’ll see an option to filter by network. Click the network that best matches the type of website that you’re trying to optimize for. Adding these filters is important because it helps narrow the results you’ll get from the tool. Next, you’ll want to start typing in search terms into the keyword field. As you start typing, you’ll see keyword suggestions appear below the keyword area. If you see a keyword that you like, then click on it and Google will show you the details about that keyword, including average monthly searches and the Competition score for that keyword.

Keep adding keywords until you have a list of keywords that you like.

Now that you have your keywords, it’s time to add them to your meta tags.

Depending on the content of the page, you may want to include your keywords multiple times throughout your meta tags. And some meta tags are more important than others, so you should include your keywords more often in those tags.

The description tag and the title tag are two of the most important meta tags, and they should contain your keywords. But you may also want to include your keywords in your author or robot tags.

Once you have placed your keywords in your meta tags, be sure to check your web page to make sure that the tags are still intact. Sometimes search engines don’t index meta tags, and if that happens to be the case, then your efforts may have been in vain.

One thing I like about this tool is that you can sort your results by keyword difficulty and keyword type to better understand how competitive certain keywords are.

Long Tail Pro

Long Tail Pro lets you choose a specific keyword to get more accurate keyword suggestions based on Google’s database. It then shows you a list of related keywords that you can choose to include in your content.

What I like about Long Tail Pro is that you can also see how many searches each keyword gets each month. This data is displayed in two ways:

1. The exact number of searches per month

2. A rank score, which helps you estimate how popular a keyword might be


Ubersuggest is another great tool to use for keyword research as it helps you find long-tail keywords based on your main keyword.

For example, if you searched for the keyword “website,” you’ll notice that Ubersuggest lists related keywords like “website builder” and “website analytics.”

Google Keyword Planner

I use the Google Keyword Planner every time I’m writing an article. Google displays search volume and gives recommendations for related keywords, but what I like the most about the Keyword Planner is the option to sort your results by gender and region.

When creating content for different regions, you’ll want to make sure that your keyword choices appeal to that audience or that they’re at least understandable by that audience.

#2 Don’t use too many keywords unless necessary.

Most of the time, including too many keywords, can be seen as spammy. Remember that you don’t need to include every single relevant keyword in your content. Focus on finding just the right number of keywords that are most relevant to the topic at hand.

#3 Avoid keyword stuffing and duplicate content.

You’ll often see SEOs creating new articles, then never touching the headings again. That means they’re not getting the full potential of their content.

They are H1, H2, H3 and you can see a pattern for the next 3 when you look at an HTML document. When you create a page in WordPress it will automatically create H1, H2, and H3 tags. You can determine which one is the H1 tag by looking at your source code and noting the size of each heading tag.

There is no set rule as to which one should be your H1 tag. Some say that it should be your title or headline, while others say it should be the first heading on the page. This is going to depend on what style of site you created.

What are heading tags used for? They are used to organize content on a page. Since the tags are larger and bolder, many people will use them for headings to identify different sections of their pages.

The first thing you can do is just use them as a headline or title for your pages. If you want to optimize this, you are going to want to make sure that your heading tag is used as the title of your page.

To do this you can go into your Pages menu and click edit next to the page you want to customize. On the left sidebar, you will see a box where you can change the displayed title. Simply click in there and change the title and save the text.

Now when you publish your page, you will be able to see your tag as the title of your page. This is a good way to use heading tags and will add more SEO value to it.

On your page, you will also be able to see that the heading tag is now bolder and larger. If you are using this for headings on a page, then you will want to try to make these heading tags stand out. So instead of placing all this information at the end of the page, you can use H tags to break up your content. Let’s say you want to put your blogroll at the bottom of the page. To do this you will create a section with H3 tags. An h3 tag is smaller than H1, but still a decent size. You will want to make sure that the heading tags are relevant to the content surrounding them. That way it will make sense when someone is reading your content.

Here is an example of how you could create a blogroll at the bottom of the page:

As you can see this was a long section of information, but they were able to break it up with 3 H3 tags. This makes it easy for Google to scan the page and quickly get to the bottom of the content. There is nothing at the bottom that will slow down the process of reading your page.

You can do this in other areas of your page as well. You could create sections of content that you want to be easily accessible to the reader and then just use the H tags to identify them. There are no hard rules in what you can or can’t do with your pages. You will need to experiment with this to see what works best for you. Just make sure you don’t go overboard or you will end up with a page that is unreadable and won’t be optimized.

#3 Make sure they are relevant to the surrounding text

As we mentioned above, you want to make sure that your heading tags are relevant to the content that surrounds them. If you have a long story on your page and then decide to use H3 tags as headings for a list, then you need to be sure that there is relevance.

For example, in the screenshot below you will see that we have another heading tag that is not relevant to the content that surrounds it:

In this case, we were headed to the next part of the story, but it was broken up by an H3 tag. This was a mistake and just makes for a hard-to-read page. When you are using tags make sure that you are consistent with the appearance of the page and that the tags are relevant to the content around them. This will help keep your page organized and easy to read.

#4 Use more than just H1 tags

In the past, we used to think that H1 tags were the most important, but in reality, they are not. We still recommend using an H1 tag for your title, but now we recommend using H2 and H3 tags as well. This is especially true when you are using them to create sections for your page.

Remember you can have up to 6 different heading tags on a page. Let’s say you have a long blog post and want to break it up into several sections. You could use an H1 tag for your title and then use H2 tags for each section. That way the reader can easily scan through your page and read the different parts of your content.

You will want to have about 3 or 4 H2 tags for each post you write. If you only have one, Google is going to assume that most of your page is important. You also want to be consistent with your use of heading tags. If you have 2 H2 tags on one page, then you should have them on every post. Otherwise, Google will think there is something weird with your page.

For example, let’s say you have a page that is all about dog grooming. You are going to want to include a few different kinds of keywords into your tags. So by using it in your tag, you are helping your page rank higher in the search engines.
